When purchasing an infusion fluid warmer, temperature range and price are only part of the comparison. Check tubing compatibility, performance at the required flow, channel count, accessories and power supply. Set out these requirements in one enquiry so that supplier quotations can be compared on the same basis.

The infusion fluid warmer category includes Sino MDT SN-H10 and H20 models. The following questions support a technical purchasing assessment. Medical staff determine which fluids may be warmed and under what conditions, following the device instructions and institutional protocols.

1. Specify the intended application and actual tubing

Describe the planned location of use, fluid types and existing equipment. Suitability for warming must be checked for the specific fluid: the broad term “infusion solution” does not establish compatibility with every medicine.

Provide the supplier with the tubing manufacturer and product code, material, diameter and any other characteristics required by the instructions. If only a diameter is stated, clarify whether it is internal or external. Request confirmation of compatibility with the specific set and how it should be installed in the heating element.

2. Compare warming performance under the same conditions

The temperature set on the display does not, by itself, describe the outlet fluid temperature at every flow rate. Request manufacturer data stating inlet temperature, flow rate, tubing type, heated length and measurement location.

Define the required operating scenario and ask the supplier to confirm it within the device's intended use. Convert different units, such as mL/h and mL/min, to a common basis. Also distinguish the time needed to preheat the heater from its performance while fluid is flowing.

A warmer does not replace an infusion pump. Displaying a rate using a drip sensor does not mean that the device itself meters the fluid or controls the flow.

3. Specify the exact configuration, not just the series name

For the SN-H10, the manufacturer describes two independent temperature sensors. This is a temperature monitoring feature and should not be entered in a specification as “two heating channels”.

The H20 series comprises H20SS, H20SL, H20DS and H20DL versions, with single- and dual-channel options. Consequently, “H20” or a photograph showing two heating elements is insufficient to define the supplied package. Wi-Fi is also described as optional and must be confirmed separately in the quotation.

4. Account for consumables and accessories

Request a list of everything needed for operation: disposable infusion sets, compatible heating elements, mounting hardware and additional sensors. Clarify which items are supplied, which must be ordered separately and which require regular replacement.

A statement that no special consumables are required does not mean a disposable infusion set is unnecessary. Compare the cost of the agreed equipment package and consumables at the expected workload.

5. Clarify backup power

The SN-H10 offer on OSELY includes “with UPS” in its title, but this alone does not identify the UPS model or runtime. Ask for its power rating, capacity, compatibility and verified runtime with heating active. Also agree what happens when switching to backup and after mains power returns.

If the device will be moved between rooms, separately check whether that scenario is permitted by the instructions and which mounts and power sources are needed. The presence of a battery alone does not establish suitability for patient transport.

6. Agree acceptance checks and training

Before delivery, agree checks of labelling, supplied items, tubing installation, mounting, indicators and alarms. Trained personnel should carry out tests in accordance with the manufacturer's documentation, without connecting the device to a patient. Define who will perform the checks and provide the results.

Ask about user instructions, training, maintenance, checks of measurement channels and replacement part availability. Acceptance criteria must match the configuration actually ordered.

Frequently asked questions

Do all H20 units have the same configuration?

No. Record the full model designation, channels and options in the specification. Features described for the entire series do not establish that every function is included in the selected package.

What information is needed to select a configuration?

Specify the location of use, fluid type, tubing, required flow range, number of channels and power requirements. This allows the configuration to be checked and a quotation to be prepared with a precise equipment list.
