X-ray diffractometers — selection and configuration
XRD instruments examine crystalline structures through X-ray diffraction. Applications include phase identification, crystallinity assessment, lattice parameters and analysis of powders, minerals, metals and pharmaceutical substances.
Select equipment and request a quotation
State your method, workload and required options to prepare a comparable quotation.
Selection considerations
- Powders, thin films or single crystals and suitable measurement geometry.
- Source power, optics, detector and accessible angular range.
- Automatic sample changing and temperature stages.
- Phase databases and quantitative analysis software.
Capabilities depend on configuration. For elemental composition, also explore X-ray fluorescence spectrometers. XRD and XRF address different analytical questions.
Compare three diffractometers
| Model | Key differences |
|---|---|
| Rigaku MiniFlex Gen 6 | MiniFlex Gen 6: benchtop powder XRD, up to 600 W. Detector and sample changer are separately specified. |
| Rigaku SmartLab SE | SmartLab SE: multipurpose θ–θ, base 3 kW tube and D/teX Ultra 250. HyPix-400 is optional. |
| Rigaku SmartLab | SmartLab: base 3 kW configuration with CBO. PhotonMax 9 kW, HyPix-3000 and in-plane hardware are separate extensions. |
Compare geometry, sample type, optics and the exact detector. Source power alone does not determine analytical performance.

Manufacturer information and documents
Check the version, supply region and document revision. A series page may describe options that are not included in the specific configuration.
Configuration, pricing and procurement
For a quotation, specify the required configuration, number of instruments, installation city and services needed. Agree options, consumables, commissioning and staff familiarisation separately. Documentation, delivery times and warranty terms are specified in the quotation and contract. See the model page for its current price or quotation request option.
Questions before selection and procurement
Which models are listed?
Rigaku MiniFlex Gen 6 · Rigaku SmartLab SE · Rigaku SmartLab.
How does SmartLab differ from SmartLab SE?
Both cards describe base 3 kW systems with D/teX Ultra 250. SmartLab offers PhotonMax 9 kW, an in-plane arm and HyPix-3000 extensions; SE offers HyPix-400. Options are not automatically included.
What should be specified in the supply package?
Anode, detector, optics, holders, sample automation, temperature stages, cooling, PC and analytical licences.
How can a fixed price be obtained?
Agree the exact equipment and option list, installation, training and service. A fixed price is established for a confirmed specification; each product page provides a quotation request.
