Laboratory rheometers study how materials respond to applied forces. Rotational instruments assess viscosity, flow curves, yield stress and thixotropy of liquids, pastes and dispersions.

Selection criteria
Consider torque range, control mode, measuring geometry, sample volume and temperature module. Viscoelastic characterization requires suitable oscillatory modes, which are not available on every model.
This category covers instruments for material analysis and quality control. RDS gas flow meters serve a different purpose despite sometimes sharing the rheometer name. Measuring systems, software, temperature control and sample accessories determine configuration and price.

When is an oscillatory rheometer needed?
For G′ and G″, frequency and amplitude sweeps, gel structure and viscoelasticity. The rotational RheolabQC may be sufficient for routine viscosity and flow curves.
What should be specified in the supply package?
Specify sample, temperatures, torque range, geometries, environmental systems and test modes. Agree air supply, circulator, computer, TRIOS and options for HR10/HR30; DMA requires appropriate fixtures.
